A tall figure of angular ink plates crossing a long sweeping curve, with a pointed, striped tip at the top and a small ring near its middle.
Traced from the sketchbook page: these are the 45 strokes it wakes with.

What this piece notices

  • Your pointer or touch, while you play with it. That is how it knows it has been poked, petted or picked up.
  • Your breath, only if you switch on Breath. The microphone's loudness is read live, in the page. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
  • Tilt and shake, only if you switch them on, on a phone.
  • Your visits, remembered on this device only: what you have found, and how its shapes have come to treat you. "Forget me" clears what every being remembers; if you keep playing, it starts remembering again.
  • The time on your device's clock, which sets the light: morning, afternoon, evening or night.

It does not use your camera, and it does not know who you are.

Ways to meet it

There are 20 things to find. Some ways to start:

  • Tap or click a shape. Then move slowly over one, or rub it on a phone.
  • Pick a shape up (on a phone, hold it first), swing it and let go.
  • Tap the floor to leave a drop of ink, and see who comes to drink.
  • Leave it alone for a while.

With a keyboard: arrow keys turn the view, plus and minus zoom, and Enter pokes a shape.
